Outsourcing: Analyzing The Costs And Benefits
Outsourcing jobs can be a very profitable way for a niche marketer to get things done in a timely manner. Most people make the false assumptions that outsourcing is primarily for small jobs or fixes to existing problems. While this can be true, it is only a small part of what outsourcing really is.
Outsourcing as a whole, covers a wide field and should not be limited to the “quick fix” or small jobs. No, it can be much more than that.
The market for outsourcing can cover every part of online marketing, from article writing to website setup and SEO preparation to actually running the site itself. In fact, some Internet Niche Marketers have turned over some or all of their site operations over to outsourced managers to run completely. These “managers” run the site and make all of the decisions as though the business were their own.
The quality of this outsourced help can range from poor to excellent. There is an old saying that holds specially true for hiring outsourced help: “You get what you pay for.”
For those marketers who focus entirely on pricing, they may not get the higher quality help they are seeking. The help they may be considering for hire may not be experienced enough, or simply may not know “the tricks of the trade.” The trade off for pricing verses quality is obvious and could be very costly in the end for the niche marketer.
The counter to the above is the niche marketer who is willing to spend more to get the job done right to his tastes and expectations. That is the focus and not pricing. This niche marketer is focused on “the big picture.”
For a business to attempt to keep their in house staff up to date on all of this would be very time consuming not to mention difficult. The employees would spend more time training than actually working. Obviously, this would impact the availability of the employees to perform their jobs resulting in missed deadlines and opportunities.
A good way to avoid these problems is to outsource jobs and fill in the gaps when project needs require skills beyond the staff abilities. This will help keep the company’s clients happy. This, in turn, could result in repeat business from the client. The reverse of this scenario would be lost business due to the company’s floundering on some previous job.
Another reason outsourcing can be helpful is the fact that it allows in house staff to participate in the training that they would not otherwise be able to get. How? By using outsourced help to keep the company’s work load up to date. The double benefit is that employees are better equipped to handle the tasks at hand and they are more marketable to the industry as a whole.
In cases like this, the company will benefit from outsourced help by having more knowledgeable employees to do the existing work while the in house staff is away being trained. This is beneficial to the employer as they do not lose business in the staffer’s absence.
The issue of increased manpower also benefits companies who wish to take on larger projects. These companies may work on smaller projects because they may not have the staffing to adequately cover the larger ones. Here is where outsourcing can help.
One challenge that outsourcing will bring up to any company is how to use it. The larger the project becomes, the more confident the company will be once they complete it. Success builds on success. This has a great significance as the larger projects will reap greater profits.
