A Frank Opinion about the Cognigen Business Opportunity

Cognigen, as you must already be aware, is one of the world’s oldest MLM business venture that focuses on selling telecommunications products, but is also quite active in other niche products such as web hosting services and travel packages. It is as much of an MLM business as any other, in the sense that you have to do a double task of selling Cognigen’s products as well as try to build a network that can handle the sales. The bigger your downline is, the more incentives you can stand to earn.

What is good about Cognigen – and where it stands apart from other businesses in the MLM genre – is that it does not pay one time commissions. Rather than that, the commissions are over the month, which makes it possible for them to give bonuses according to the total number of sales done per month. And indeed, Cognigen does give anywhere between 6 and 12% to the agents depending on the total volume of sales done. Also, a commission of 1% is given for the sales done by the members in the downline, who are called as the subagents. Cognigen has a good size of downline penetration too – it pays commissions for members that are up to six levels deep in the downline, something that very few MLM businesses do.

Then again, the products of Cognigen have a good scope of getting sold, as they are mostly products within the telecommunications industry, something that everyone has a need for. The telecom products belong to big brands within the market. But some critics do take that itself as detraction from Cognigen’s business plan. According to them there is cutthroat competition in the telecom industry, due to which there is very low margin of product pricing. That is the reason some people feel that Cognigen’s plan may be good, but there could be problems during the paying out due to the low margin of profits that they products contain.
Another important criticism leveled against Cognigen is that it involves a lot of hard-selling products. Certainly the products are all much in demand, but at the same time there is also an open availability of the products in the market. A person would buy a telephone from a Cognigen agent only if the agent would be able to sell the product to him or her. That is the reason people feel that becoming a successful Cognigen agent requires a lot of sales pitching. However, it is also true that all MLM opportunities require salesperson capabilities, and so, Cognigen becomes no different from them.

The commissions doled out by Cognigen are very good, but they become better when the network increases. Here we refer to the 1% override commissions that come from the sales of the downline members. This is certainly too low. However, qualified members on Cognigen can stand to get up to 4% of the override commissions. But it takes some doing to become a qualified member. The member will need to include a particular number of subagents in order to become a qualified member. Again, this can be a difficult task for people who are not very convincing in building up their referrals.

The Cognigen business plan is indeed very enticing, but that does not mean it will succeed without any efforts. If you want to make the kind of money you have heard in all those glowering Cognigen reviews, you will have to work at selling products and promoting your network online and offline.
