4 Ways To Get Creative When Writing Articles

Being creative is sometimes referred to as the heart of article writing. Trying to force yourself to be creative is actually a contradiction in terms. It can’t be done. Creativity is something that cannot be coerced, it has to be encouraged, to flow.

Ironically ,there are those who seem to be able to turn creativity on and off at their whim. We stand amazed at what they can accomplish and the details they go to to achieve their works. Many of the most popular books in the world are evidence of this.

It should be noted that creativity is an art. It is more than just putting down ideas. It is capturing the reader’s interest and keeping it. It is keeping their attention and curiosity piqued. It can also be described as putting words into the images that the reader can visualize in his own imagination.

But how does one get their creativity flowing? How does the successful writers get it started and keep it going?

There are no sure ways to get perfect ideas, but there are ways to boost your creativity.

Here are a few ideas that might help.

1) Relax. Take time to sort out your thoughts. A jumbled and tense mind tends to be less creative than a relaxed mind. It tends to have less space to be creative, where as a relaxed mind tends o have more space and more energy to be creative.

Here you can review your contacts with other people and any interactions that took place. Sometimes, ideas can occur from something someone said or from something they were wearing. The main point here is that a good idea can often come from the most common of situations.

2) Find your happy place - This may seem silly, but there are those who swear by this technique. If you are in an office, surround yourself with pictures of things that make you smile like kittens, your pets, beautiful scenery, your family, etc. Pleasant scents are also known to help. Like the relaxation technique mentioned above, it can help clear your mind and give you fresh ideas to work with.

3) Keep a diary - Ideas don’t always come when you want them to. Sometimes they come as a flash of insight, other times they may come in dreams. Still other times they may take time to seed and grow. The main point here is to keep a written record of your ideas.

Sometimes these ideas can be triggered by scents, colors, a seemingly meaningless event, or something that you hear or read. It is a good idea to keep your diary, or journal with you at all times and jot them down. You can then go back later and develop these ideas.

4) Set the mood - this can be done in a number of ways. Listening to music, sipping a glass of wine, or just throwing yourself into the feeling that helps you work the best. Moods can effect your creativity. Being down, depressed, or angry can often set a mood that is less creative than a more positive or upbeat mood. These things often are born out in the work completed.

Remember, creativity cannot be forced. It is an art by which ideas are transformed into visual images that can be understood by the reader. In the case of writing articles, it is the vehicle that conveys the message to the reader that is clear and to the point.
